New Years Eve In Rio de Janeiro

If you did not make it to New Years Eve in Rio de Janeiro this past year, it is never too early to start planing your trip for next year. After Carnaval, New Years Eve to Brazilians is the next biggest celebration, attracting people from all over the world to be a part of the biggest party on the planet. Over two million people fill the Copacabana beach area every year for this highly celebrated occasion.

The party starts around 8pm where you will find stages of live music that have been preparing for your welcoming all day. The fireworks, which are the biggest light display in the world, begin at midnight with the turning of the year. In addition to the millions of spectators on the beaches, giant cruise ships fill the water for an even different view of this spectacular display.

In 2008 a new attraction found itself added to the party; a giant Ferris Wheel. The Ferris Wheel was installed at Forte de Copacabana, that displayed digital effect and images of Rio de Janeiro.

New Years Eve 2010 was s celebration of all time this past year. Although it poured rain the day before, Mother Nature, as always, smiled on Rio de Janeiro with plenty of heat and sunshine for the celebrations.
