New Years Eve In Rio de Janeiro

Although it poured rain the day before, Mother Nature, as always, smiled on Rio de Janeiro with plenty of heat and sunshine for the celebrations.

If you are coming to the party you should know that it is a tradition to wear white, it is considered a lucky color. You can add colored accessories such as red or green, but black is never an appropriate color for this event. Many people bring flowers to throw into the sea at midnight as an offering to Yemanja who is the deity of the seas. Be sure to bring a bottle of champagne to pop at midnight and be prepared to wear more than you drink. Everyone shakes their bottles to spray, another sign of good luck.
